Constance Marie Instagram – When someone says, “I’m just one person, I can’t change the world” To them I say, “Norman Lear was just one person, and he changed many of our worlds!” ✨ It’s taken me a day to collect my thoughts. When I first heard the news of his passing my heart dropped. 💔 I’ve only met him quickly once or twice. He was always warm & kind. I never got to work with him directly. I know people who have and they will go on and on about how awe inspiring & wonderful he was. What a champion he was for them. ✨ But mostly, MY impression of Norman was the impact he had thru his shows. The impact they had on the heart of a young girl parked in front of the tv for way too long. My whole world was television. ✨📺✨ I used to watch the Brady Bunch and think “Who are these people? And why is their life so perfect?” Of course,,, I loved Marsha but, I couldn’t relate to it at all. And then, I saw the show “One Day at A Time” a show about a single mom with two kids, living in an apartment, filled with love and the struggle of trying to get by! And I felt seen! ❤️ It was a world I could recognize! ✨❤️✨ And then, “Good Times” “All in the Family” “The Jeffersons” All shows dealing with Representation of different ethnicities, demographics and social classes! ✨ ALL these shows touched my heart! The content of these shows made me laugh, and made me think! This one man, had the courage to make brave choices, break the molds of tv & what had always been done. His shows showcased more diverse worlds then people were used to. His shows gave me HOPE! And inspired me to LOVE SITCOMS! Without him blazing the unconventional trail, I don’t know if shows like George Lopez would have existed. ✨❤️✨ I will forever be grateful for his vision & talent… ✨😔❤️✨ He was only one person BUT he REALLY changed my world. I am forever grateful for his gifts and talent. 🙏🏽 Rest now kind sir.
