I wrote Dreams at 13 years old, already an @ascap songwriter, and signed to @atlanticrecords shortly after my 16th birthday and it was a 12 inch dance club release only at first with other forms of release, like the 7 inch pop version to radio, contingent on it hitting certain nearly impossible chart goals. But, with the army of Mama Diane , my Sister Karen on sound and lights, @buddycasimano dancing and flipping to the high heavens, and a rotating dancer, we hit the clubs all night for 3 shows a night, 4 nights a week to bring the music directly to the people and we are here 37 years later celebrating this song live as recently as one week ago today at @bourbonroomhollywood ! I would play a teen club, an over 18 or 21 club, and close out the night/morning at a gay club and do my best to get some sleep and do it all again all while attending public High School during the week.
