Home Actress Debra Messing HD Instagram Photos and Wallpapers December 2023 Debra Messing Instagram - Washington DC trip Pt 2 The White House was spectacular. It felt like a movie set. Like a toy store. Primary colors everywhere. Christmas trees at every turn. We were welcomed with a live band playing beautiful traditional Jewish songs. There was a room with a working train set, and a choir singing Yiddish songs. It was festive and bustling with 700 people. The highlight was the powerful and deeply moving speech by @potus, and Descendants of Holocaust survivors lighting the candles on the new, and permanent, WH menorah. @rabbibuchdahl, my rabbi from NY, was chosen to say the prayers, which made it all the more special. The echos of everyone singing along in unison was beautiful. The most moving moment~ seeing a menorah from the kibbutz massacre. It was from a house that had been burnt down. It survived unscathed. And had a place of honor in the White House. The hostages that are still in captivity were never out of mind. (I leave for a mission to Israel in a few days to meet the families of the hostages, injured IDF soldiers, survivors of the Nova Festival and to go to the Gaza border. I’ll post from there.) Thank you @potus and @drbiden for a Hanukkah celebration to remember. #chagsameach #hanukkah #menorah #potus #whitehouse White house

Debra Messing Instagram – What a whirlwind. Thank you @vp and @secondgentleman for a beautiful evening. Bringing our community together, in a safe space, with our music, and yummy foods aplenty, was a gift to all of us. We are in pain, but we are resilient. That is the story of Hanukkah. 2100 years ago (before the birth of Jesus) a powerful Empire tried to wipe out the Jewish people, but with a tiny army to defend our people and our right to exist, we prevailed against an existential threat. And we won back our sacred Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem( yes, that’s right) which had been destroyed in the battle, but a candle was lit, with enough oil for one night, and miraculously it lasted 8.

To my Jewish brothers and sisters, we have been here before. For 3000 years we have been hunted down, by countless empires, and we have prevailed. It’s truly a miracle.

To all the non- Jewish friends who stand with our right to have self- determination, supporting our right to exist, and to live peacefully with people of every faith in our ancestral indigenous land, means everything to us.

May light always drive out the dark.
May there be peace.

Chag Sameach💙🕎
