Emily Swallow Instagram – The fans at my last two conventions answered the call and walked The Way! On #thisisthewaywednesday two weeks ago, I wrote about Spencer Thorsland, a 12-year-old Mandalorian warrior who is battling cancer. Many of you commented about Spencer’s strength and wisdom, offered prayers and love, and wished him an incredible time on his Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World. If we’ve met at a convention you know I raffle for Voices Against Cancer at almost every show I attend, and at Fan Expo San Francisco and GalaxyCon Columbus I announced that the money raised would go to Spencer and his family. Thank you for demonstrating your support for our foundlings and giving so selflessly; we raised over $1100 over the two weekends. Spencer’s mom and stepdad Lori and David had tears in their eyes when I told them about your generosity. It doesn’t take a huge effort to walk The Way – some people bought 30 tickets, and some bought 1, but it all added up to a gift that had a huge impact on this family’s life.
