Gayathrie Instagram – The premise of the book is the dichotomy, Shurjo and her clan face in their two worlds: ‘known’ and the ‘unknown’, in life and in death, ideal and the real, the internal and the external. Everybody is in a limbo between the two, struggling to find their identities and purpose.
Iffat paints a rich tapestry for the reader’s imagination.
My favourite part of the book was, how it starts off as a personal account of Shurjo but the author cleverly uses the set up to address broader, bigger concepts like patriotism in today’s world. For a generation that is sadly being fed a questionable definition of such concepts across cultures and borders, I think the theme has a universal appeal. This coupled with the fluid narration makes Shurjo’s clan an easy and interesting read. | Posted on 30/Sep/2023 20:44:27
