Writing in a journal helps metabolise the experience and gives me time to reflect on it – it dissipates the pain, but it also makes me more accountable. As an actor, you’re a vessel for somebody else’s story, and that’s true of the work I do with UNHCR as well, I’m taking on the heart of someone’s journey and trying to convey it to an audience. When I’m acting, my job is to move people, and here I’m also saying, hey, you’re involved, you’re not just a bystander – we’re all part of this human family." 🤍🤍🤍 Thank you @bazaaruk for including me in the Women of the Year Awards 2023 See link in bio to read full article 📷 @helenachristensen Styled by @leithclark Hair @bjornkrischker Makeup @kaymontano

Gugu Mbatha-Raw Instagram – Reflecting on the incredible evening at Harper’s Women of the Year awards. So uplifting to be in the presence of so many inspirational, powerful and joyful women and such an honour to be presented by the brilliant @afuahirsch

It was truly humbling to receive the Philanthropy Award, because for me, as a Humanitarian, it is rooted in witnessing the resilience, courage and the strength of spirit of so many other women. Women who may never stand in front of a microphone or have their photo in a magazine. Women who I have met on my travels over the last 5 years as Goodwill Ambassador with UNHCR @refugees
These women have entrusted me with their stories, shared some of the most devastating points in their journey, and have compelled me to amplify their voices.

This award is dedicated to them ❤️
