Lola Blanc Instagram – It’s my birthday! I’m using exclamation points so I sound fun! 35 was the year I learned a lot of things I didn’t particularly want to know. I have a sneaking suspicion that 36 will bring more of the same, as will many years to come prob because I guess this is growing up, but in the meantime please donate to @weareshatterproof so maybe fewer families have to go through anything like what mine has been experiencing as a result of addiction and a system that fails those that struggle with it. If you can’t afford to donate, maybe finally make that call to your reps that you’ve been putting off, expressing support for a stop to the senseless destruction of innocent life in Palestine (without being hateful, thanks!). These are the two things I want, though I will also accept cookies, cute shoes in size 8, or a forever home for this dear cat we’ve been fostering but can’t keep due to an impending new dog. The cat’s name is Jason Bourne and he enjoys sleeping next to you on the bed and waking you up by slamming his little head into your hands. I don’t know what I learned being 35 besides extremely specific information about brains and ICUs and broken political systems but I know I am grateful for science, and being fortunate enough to live somewhere with functioning hospitals (even though I am now obsessed with making access to them way, way better), and @jack_bedrosian and his patience, and my mama @dr.christinemarie and her unwavering status as best mom in the world, and being privileged enough to be able to make art for a living. Okay that’s all happy birthday to me, be nice to someone today, but especially me because it’s my birthday and I am the princess!
