Majandra Delfino Instagram – I want to talk about the Dans. But I always find myself at a loss for words because flimsy little words make a mockery of the truth. Words don’t hold the weight of the solidity, the strength of unwavering support, the level at which this Dandom operates.
Since 1999 (I was 5 years old…;) Brendan and I always marveled at the support of the Roswell fandom. We all did. It felt unparalleled and unique. That stayed with me deeply. And nothing rivaled the magic of Roswell in my opinion. So I wanted to create a show specifically for that fandom, for that magic. Of course I could never make something as great but I could at least write the fandom and our mutual admiration a gushing love letter. Easy to do as I too was head over heals with the world of Roswell and Michael and Maria. But networks dismissed my proclamations of Roswell’s magical niche and the fandom’s unstoppable power – in short they dismissed US. But I never stopped believing, from my first pitch meeting in 2005 till now. I pitched to anyone that would listen and was turned down. Every. Time.
Then I get a call out of the blue from Brendan. He had been thinking about the very same thing. Maybe not the *exact* same concept because I’m the smarty pants and he’s the eye 🤪 but he had the essence down pat. And off we went, now the two of us, taking meetings to sell this thing.
And guess what happened?
“ Yeah….no.”
“No!!”
“Cute, but no”
“No, but it does remind me, we should reboot X-files”
