I’m 40! People asked me how I celebrated my bday. Well here it is… Anyone who knows me knows that I am on a quest to study all sub genres of funk (and everything else) to be the best I can be. I was raised in the DMV and heard this music in the streets, coming from cars or the actual street corners. I have always been curious and obsessed with Gogo. I went to the DMV last week and continued my study. JUST ANNOUNCED! Friday January 19th we’ve got a FREE SHOW with Mike Dillon’s @punkadelick featuring @nikkidrums & @brianroyhaas plus a set by @deanmucettiandrhythmreal ! The Mike Dillon Band @punkadelick has spent the last three decades performing well over 200 shows a year with both his own band, as well as playing vibraphone and percussion with artists including Les Claypool , Ani DiFranco and Rickie Lee Jones . He’s served as an integral member of bands like Critters Buggin , Garage A Trois, Dead Kenny Gs, @spymachines and Nolatet (with Brian Haas , also of @jacobfredjazzodyssey ), and as bandleader of Billy Goat, Hairy Apes BMX and Malachy Papers. Under his own name, he’s amassed an extensive catalog of genre-defying recordings. When the pandemic hit in early 2020 forcing Dillon off the road, he instinctively directed his perpetually restless creative energy to writing and recording. The result is a varied epic trilogy of dynamic albums featuring collaborators that include Matt Chamberlain (legendary studio drummer, currently touring with Brandi Carlile ), Steven Bernstein (Sex Mob), Jean-Paul Gaster ( Clutch ), @nickbockrath ( Cage The Elephant ), Tiff Lamson ( GIVERS ) and @shanetheriotguitar ( Hall & Oates ).
