@gummyfilms FIRST @festivaldecannes x @quinzaine_des_cineastes for @rachelxwalden’s LEMON TREE
finally finally finally, @whatdoesntfloat is coming up for air. our micro budget movie navigated through rough waters to its eventual docking. i’m grateful to @circle.collective @utopiamovies for seeing what this truly independent film is made of. @lu__de__ba directed, edited and composed the score, which i wake up impressed by every day. @sadmadams shared her wit and talent in writing each vignette. @rachelxwalden savvily produced the crap out of this film and taught me so much about producing.
my instinct is to say that what doesn’t float is our “little” film. but for anyone who knows what it’s like to work with micro budgets, creating these films is BIG work. now, more than ever, i urge us all to support films that are properly independent. i believe interim agreements should exist for movies like this one. and as difficult as the interim agreement was to obtain, i’m thankful to @sagaftra that my fellow actors and i can promote this movie. without any sort of promotion, little-BIG-films like what doesn’t float would be left to sink, no one ever having heard of them.
thank you to every person who helped create what doesn’t float, and to every person who takes the time out of their day to sit in a theater to watch it.
