Poppy Liu Instagram – i keep hearing people say what’s happening in g*za is “too complex” to comment on. it’s true, there are many aspects of this conflict that are incredibly long and complex but there are also aspects of this conflict that are extremely not complicated.
like our global responsibility to call for an immediate c3asef!re. like our naming that what is happening in g*za is a gen0cide — the most thoroughly documented gen0cide in the history of humankind, one that is directly funded by US tax dollars. like our recognition that the incessant b*mbing of hospital after hospital after hospital to the point of collapsing g*za’s entire medical infrastructure and the murder of 11,000 civilians (nearly 5,000 of which are children) and the displacement of 1.5 million p*lestin*ans has nothing to do with “self defense” (or an attempt to safely return h*stages) and everything to do with occupying more land.
i am disgusted by the pr0paganda and misinformation peddled out by western media. i am confused by the willful ignorance and silence of people in the industry i work in.
we call ourselves artists. we claim to be storytellers and creatives. people with strong hearts and curious minds who digest and reflect on the human condition with the most important tool we have, our voice. this is not a time for artists to be silent.
every day i see a new image, hear a new stat that is burned into my brain forever. every day i try to think of an angle for how to open someone’s heart to care for g*za. all the information in the world is available to you, please find the entry point you need into caring about this.
