I loved working with her to lobby for menopause awareness and another time campaigning for women’s reproductive rights. She was kind and smart and she made a difference. Murphy, the Member for Dunkley, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 at just 37 years of age. A tearful Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced her death in a press conference in Canberra a short time ago. “A short time ago Peta Murphy passed away at home, which was her wish,” he said. “Her husband of 24 years, Rod, was with her, along with her parents, and her sisters.
