HANDALA, a character created by cartoonist “Naji al-Ali”, it is an iconic symbol of Palestinian identity and defiance. Handala’s age – 10 years old – represents Naji al-Ali’s age in 1948 when he was forced to leave Palestine and would not grow up or turn his face to us until he could return to his homeland.
