Women have always been put under pressure to look a certain way or according to some beauty standard, which to be honest I’m still not sure who decides on. What’s interesting is that the desire to be seen as ‘attractive’ (according to said beauty standard) has become an obsession in our society, (possibly because beauty has been linked with success and even love, so much so – that many of us think we are only worthy of these things IF and when we fit into those standards).

As a result – many of us go to extreme lengths to fit what the current definition of beauty is. And the irony of it all is that the beauty standard is always changing so achieving it is literally impossible 🤷‍♀️

It’s like paying lots of money to run on a treadmill but what you’re really trying to do is physically get somewhere but you don’t realise that the treadmill is not moving.

Anyone else feel like that?

I’ve always wondered who gains the most from this vicious circle? I’ve also wondered what else we could be doing with our money instead of paying to run on a treadmill that’s going nowhere? And who stands to lose the most if we woke up tomorrow morning and just accepted (maybe even loved) ourselves just the way we are? ❤️
