Dan Crenshaw Instagram – On my latest Hold These Truths podcast, journalist @asranomani showed us some of the so-called “banned” books that far-left activists want taught in classrooms and stocked on the shelves of every school library. These include LGBTQ+ books for kindergarteners and – no joke – a teenager’s how-to guide for exploring online porn communities and starting their own webcam business. It’s obvious enough that parents should have the right to prevent their children from being exposed to this woke and highly sexualized propaganda. Yet that’s the battle being fought in Maryland courts right now. Parents in the Montgomery County Public Schools system are merely asking for the right to remove their children from the classrooms when these books are read. They had previously been allowed to opt-out their children, but earlier this year the school system disallowed opt-outs, citing high absenteeism (geez I wonder why). A federal appeals court is currently considering whether to block the school district from disallowing student opt-outs. In states like Texas, we’ve seen these kinds of books prohibited from school curriculums. The woke left cries that we are “banning” these books, a persistent talking point that has no degree of truth to it. No book was ever banned just because it was removed from a classroom reading list. All the books Asra mentions in this clip are easily accessible via Amazon, public libraries, and a million other places. If parents want to teach their 5-year-old that “T stands for Trans,” they are perfectly within their rights to do so. They just shouldn’t be forced to do so.
