Everything seemed to be written in the stars for Negreanu who captured a first-place prize worth $218,400 just days after announcing his biggest losing year ever.
Negreanu faced down a tough final table that contained Justin Bonomo, David Peters, Masashi Oya, and PGT leaderboard points leader Ike Haxton on his way to the victory. In the end, Negreanu squared off against Daniel Smiljkovic heads-up for the title.
It took a miracle river four-outer, but Negreanu was the last man standing at the end of the 91-entry event, earning himself 218 PGT points and securing his spot in the PGT Championship $1,000,000 Freeroll.
