Derek Theler Instagram – May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Did you know that people living with Diabetes are 2 to 3 times more likely to experience depression?
Stress and burnout are real issues when it comes to living life with diabetes. I, myself have struggled with both, and one thing that works for me is exploring somewhere new! Get outside. Break your routine. Try something new like going camping for a night or make plans to tackle that big hike you always wanted to try. Maybe it is time to buy a ticket and visit that country you’ve always dreamed about or go to that park right around the corner you have been wanting to check out. Exploring and getting my shoes dirty has always helped me feel grounded, refreshed and reassured that I can handle whatever comes my way. I encourage you to try this next time you are experiencing a mental health issue.
These pictures are from a recent trip I took with Lisa. I remember how excited we both were trekking through the jungle. Looking back at the photos reminds me of those feelings and helps me feel centered. This friendly cat greeted us at the fruit stand after a long day on the trail. ❤️
