From two songs that I find deeply powerful. “You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught” by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and “Children Will Listen” by Steve Sondheim.
Repost from @abortioncarenetwork • While we continue to mourn the continued attacks on abortion, we know abortion access has long been out of reach for so many. No one should have to travel farther, wait longer than they want, face criminal penalties, or navigate politically-imposed barriers to get abortion care. We know independent clinics will continue to do whatever it takes to ensure people get the care they need—but it will take all of us to make true access a reality.

Repost from @aclu_nationwide When transgender people have access to the care we need, we have the freedom to live full, authentic lives.
Repost from @nytimes • Delivering food by bicycle in New York City has proved to be a deadly occupation for some. Riding bikes at all hours, food-delivery workers get hit by cars, are at constant risk of having accidents and fall prey to crime. Food-delivery workers were for a brief period celebrated in New York as the coronavirus pandemic drove life indoors and their services became critical. As the pandemic lurched on, the dangers of the in-demand work became glaring. Activists formed unions and pushed for better pay and protections, an effort that continued into 2023. Under pressure, the city set a higher minimum wage for app-based delivery workers, starting at about $18 per hour in October. Still, the risk for many workers has gone beyond wages. The job has become one of the deadliest in the city. Most of the bicyclists are immigrants from Mexico or Guatemala who are part of an estimated cavalry of 65,000 food-delivery workers in New York City. A Facebook page chronicles dozens of their deaths, lionizing them as fallen heroes. Tap the link in our bio to read the full story. Photo by @jeenahmoon
Repost from @rescueorg • Limiting the rights of asylum seekers isn’t just inhumane—it’s also an ineffective way of trying to manage the border. Congress is yet again considering a series of restrictions on asylum seekers in the U.S. But these restrictions won’t help respond to the humanitarian situation at the border. They’ll only force people to take more dangerous routes and risks as they search for safety. Swipe to get the facts on asylum restrictions. Reminder: Seeking asylum is a human right.
