As you all know it wasn’t just another match… I am very happy to have had the chance to feel the competition.
There’s been a lot of effort and work to come back. Anything could have happened in a day like today after such a long time without playing a professional tennis match. I am happy with the way it all went.
Nothing has changed with regards of what I have been saying lately: This is one step and still there is a long way to go. The first match in almost a year that went well quite honestly, but it’s only a match. Important that I am healthy and stayed healthy throughout the match. And my goal is to keep enjoying!

Hi all, during my last match in Brisbane I had a small problem on a muscle that as you know made me worried. Once I got to Melbourne I have had the chance to make an MRI and I have micro tear on a muscle, not in the same part where I had the injury and that’s good news.
Right now I am not ready to compete at the maximum level of exigence in 5 sets matches. Therefore I m flying back to Spain to see my doctor, get some treatment and rest.
I have worked very hard during the year for this comeback and as I always mentioned my goal is to be at my best level in 3 months.
Within the sad news for me for not being able to play in front of the amazing Melbourne crowds, this is not very bad news and we all remain positive with the evolution for the season.
I really wanted to play here in Australia and I have had the chance to play a few matches that made me very happy and positive.

Today was a very difficult match that I could have won but all the credit to @jordanthompson2004 for the win. He played at a great level and did a lot of great things. Good for him and, again congrats.
I didn’t have the ball quality as in the past two matches but even with that I was in a good position to win the match.
This is part of the process that I am going through.
I had a small sensation, not a good one, in a similar place where I had the surgery, but it’s too early to say anything. Hopefully it’s a charged muscle and in the next days I’ll make some more tests. If it’s only a charged muscle it’s been a very positive week.
