6 years ago today the little guy looking at us from the box was getting ready to die. He had a little less than a week left. I’ve wanted to say that – since writing the book about Henry – the volume of letters and messages I’ve gotten from other bereaved parents and siblings is completely unbelievable. It feels very strange to not be able to reply to all of them. One, there are only so many hours in the day and I have alive children and an alive wife to spend time with. And two, meaningfully engaging with the massive emotions surrounding children’s deaths all the time would probably kill me. But I want to say hello to all the bereaved parents and siblings who have written me and say that I love you. And doesn’t it feel good and right to write about your dead child? To say their name? To see it written down and send it off to someone else? To parent your child in some way, even though their body is gone? You love them. And they love you. Finally, I wrote a book about grief but it didn’t make me an expert. Just another meatball trudging along, making between 8-12 mistakes each day.
Rob Delaney shares how ‘heroic’ his children were when he told them their younger brother, Henry, was going to sadly die ❤️ #loosewomen #robdelaney
This review of A HEART THAT WORKS made me happy and sad and happy again. ❤️📚
“How can we best, and most warmly, deliver this care?” Thank you @robdelaney for your moving plea to reverse the privatisation of health and social care. Your courage gives us the strength to carry on fighting for a fully-public, fully-funded NHS.
Hanging out with fellow superstar athlete @leahwilliamsonn blissfully unaware Kit Harrington is about to murder me.

I think I speak for all of us when I say 2023 was a fantastic year by any measure. We hit all our quarterly goals and our wife is our best friend. 🪭

🇬🇧A Heart That Works is out in paperback today in the UK. So happy it’s in its most important incarnation now; the one people can pass around and dog-ear and write in. I’m grateful to everyone who’s read it so far. The number of people who’ve bought the book is empirically staggering and then the number of bereaved parents and siblings who’ve gotten in touch with me is miraculous. And many “normal” people have read it too! Thank you very very much to everyone. If you’d like a copy of the paperback, they’re available at the link in my bio. ❤️📚
I have just been alerted to this. ❤️📚
I did a wacky duathlon today. 👗🏋️♀️

Cannot overstate how happy I am to have my book be in a British LIBRARY’S advent calendar. I love libraries even more than book shops and the idea that I could have a book in one blows my mind forever. Link in bio if you’d like one. ❤️📚
