Rouzbeh Rashidi Instagram – I am presenting an informative summary and the latest updates on my upcoming feature film, Elpis (2023): Elpis debuted at the International Documentary Film Festival DokuBaku in Baku, Azerbaijan. Subsequently, it was selected to be part of the official competition programs of the 19th edition of the Festival Transterritorial de Cine Underground (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Flight / Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Genova Film Festival (Italy), and the 7th Berlin Revolution Film Festival. I had the privilege of attending and presenting the film at all of these screenings, with the exception of Argentina, where it was well-received by the audience. This was particularly gratifying as Elpis represents an entirely new artistic direction compared to my previous works. I am delighted that Elpis has been honoured with the Best Feature Film Award in the ‘Student Jury’ category at the Flight / Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Genova. This recognition humbles me greatly. Furthermore, Elpis has garnered praise from international film critics and cinephiles, with three reviews: “This is the agony at the heart of Rashidi’s art.” – Cristina Álvarez López and Adrian Martin. “Elpis is a technically polished and aesthetically magnificent proof…” – Nikola Gocić. “Elpis is Rashidi’s most personal piece to date.” – Nadin Mai (The Art(s) of Slow Cinema).
