Rouzbeh Rashidi Instagram – I have recently put the finishing touches on a brand-new series of performative video lectures, which have been carefully crafted for my future teaching engagements. This latest series will premier in my upcoming masterclass, ‘EXPERIMENTAL & PERSONAL FILMMAKING.’ This event is slated to occur at the Berlin Art Institute, running from the 5th to the 9th of February 2024.
Throughout my teaching journey, I’ve evolved from strict, dull teaching methods to a more dynamic, intuitive, and engaging approach. I revel in the spontaneous exploration of ideas, the beauty of poetic expressions, and the depth of philosophical concepts in cinema. Instead of leaning on pre-established filmmaking ideologies, I strive to craft an immersive cinematic experience.
My ambition is to usher students into the otherwordly world of personal and experimental cinema. I aim to guide them through this vibrant yet haunting landscape, empowering them to carve their unique trajectory in filmmaking. My teachings are an organic extension of my filmmaking practice. Interestingly, ‘performance art’, a concept I neither possessed nor desired within my filmmaking dialogue, has become necessary for effective teaching.
