Marottichal is a quaint beautiful village located in the Thrissur district of Kerala which is famous for its waterfalls but today I’m talking about why it’s a CHESS haven where this game literally saved lives of the people of this village😲
A tea shop owner, C. Unnikrishnan introduced chess to the people of Marottichal that were battling alcohol addiction as a way to distract them and give a wholesome and constructive alternative to their problem. This slowly turned the entire identity of the village and today it holds an Asian record of 1000 people playing chess at the same time!!
This is the BEST example of “when life gives you lemons…” you break the Asian record with them🎖
Unni never wanted to change the whole village, he just wanted to spread his passion that set a butterfly effect. Doesn’t this show how even one person’s one good deed can set a wave of change?
