Anjali Bhimani Instagram – I need a whole separate post to share how special it was to me to meet this gorgeous goddess at the Astra awards. I’ve been listening to @kchenoweth for decades now – ever since that first Tony award winning performance she gave in Charlie Brown and through so many others. Her rendition of Glitter and Be Gay inspired me to audition for and book my first opera (singing the very same song) and her versatility through her career has been a guiding light for my own “lets do all the things” career. And it’s not just her singing voice that has been inspiring – it’s her voice as a force of goodness in the world. If you follow her or have the good fortune to know her you know how much she leads with kindness and light and she did exactly that when we finally met on Monday after following each other online for years. One of my favorite things about being an artist is getting to shine light on the other artists who have lit the way, and this lady is right up there at the top of the list. And she proves once again what I hold to be true: the most talented people I’ve ever met have also been the most gracious…so screw that old cliche about not meeting your heroes….DO meet them and tell them how special they are because it’s the greatest feeling after they’ve given so much to so many of us to give even just a little something back to them and see a smile like this coming back at you.
