These explosions (supernovae) can get as bright as a galaxy and form some of the most exotic stuff in our universe, neutron stars and black holes. Sometimes a star explodes as a supernova and the shock wave from the explosion flings out nearby stars forcing them to zip along the universe at speeds as high as 1000-2500km a second.
