Dawn McCoy Instagram – The nights before criminal court hearings are VERY important. It’s so important to prepare yourself energetically and be surrounded by friends who love you and know your story and are cheering you on, keeping the mood light while remembering the heaviness of the day ahead. Last night, @heychrisrichards and I met @kellygolightly & @fredbaby13 at Norma’s at the @parkerpalmsprings for what turned into a 4-hour dinner, talking about anything and everything from life decisions to terrible television to origin stories and more. The sheer lightness of the evening prepared our souls for the heaviness of criminal court the next morning. It was a gift. We do this every night before criminal court – We surround ourselves with friends who fill our hearts. The evenings always feel like big warm hugs in a slow, grueling system that can feel like a cross between a roller coaster and an electrocution. Any crime victim’s family will tell you… Court is BRUTAL. Any of it. All of it. Just the concept of it. The very idea that you have to be in an underbelly of a world you’ve only ever seen on television.
