Isabella Gómez Instagram – I like to think that I had a special bond with Norman, but I know hundreds of people feel that way. That’s just the kind of guy he was. He made you feel special, he made you feel seen. That’s what he did for millions around the globe, decade after decade. He changed the course of history and he changed my entire life. I am a better person for having known Norman Lear. I am more aware, curious, empathetic and am much more inclined to stand up and fight. Norman made me feel like I too could change the world. He made me feel like I was worthy of playing a character like Elena Alvarez. He made me feel like I was an important part of his legacy, his world altering legacy. I’ve heard dozens of people say this to Norman over the years and now I will say it and mean it as well: Norman, you raised me. To know you is not only to love you, but to be infinitely inspired by you. There are no words for the immense pride and gratitude I feel knowing I got to be on this earth at the same time as you and got to do what we both love most together. What a privilege. What an honor.
