We let our people fall crushed under the weight of racial capitalism. Our kin are rotting away in cages. Our loves are suffering while tourists post up in hotels and short term rentals that could offer housing and stability to families. The world is on fire and the waters are rising. The settlers and occupiers are settling and occupying.
This is the reality of our world— whether we wish to see it or not. Most days I am overwhelmed by grief. And yet I feel no despair. This little one puts everything into perspective. Most of all she reminds me of the preciousness of life — not just hers —but all of ours. The fight continues. For her. And for her whole generation. I believe that we will win.
