Janaki Sabesh Instagram – In life, we often avoid certain things by labelling them as irrelevant. I usually avoid wearing the portable microphone to address a small crowd. It came from believing that I was audible enough while narrating stories and that the voice amplifier was just an appendage while addressing a small group of children. But something different happened yesterday as my friends in @tulikabooks confirmed it was houseful and unfortunately could not get hold of a mic.
Lucky for us, I remembered I had a portable mic lying in my cupboard for years. Though I wasn’t sure if it worked, to my pleasant surprise, it worked well. Yes, I finally wore the microphone headset, and let me tell you how I felt. It was liberating. It also helped my wonderful audience to hear me loud and clear. I found joy in this simple thing, and I believe this is what life is about. It is vital to find happiness in the small things.
As I wore the mic after a long time, it dawned on me that we often put a lot of things on hold in life. Maybe it is about time we do the things we haven’t done in years and welcome change. Let us step into the new year with this lesson in mind.
I am grateful for yet another year of opportunities to share stories with not just children but also with students, adults, corporate sectors, and NGOs. It has been overwhelming to see that my stories have made an impact on people. Nothing compares to the joy of seeing the spark in the eyes of my audience while listening to the stories. Here is hoping I continue this journey of making people smile. Thank you for being a part of this ride with me.
As it is time to say goodbye to 2023 let us be grateful for all the good things and keep going. The new year could be the one you have been waiting for your whole life!!
