Julia Kelly Instagram – It feels like I’ve lived many lives,
traveling back to Puerto Vallarta was a big reminder of one of them. When I was 9, my parents told me and my little sister that we were selling everything and moving to Mexico. You can imagine how hard that was to leave the city you’ve grown up in, let alone the country you’ve been in your whole life. We packed up what little we had and went into it blindly.
Me – my big sister Hayley, my little sister Sophia, and our parents all moved into a families extra apartment. We lived off of air mattresses and a garden bench as a couch. Only ate tortillas and beans every day. I spent nearly every day dreaming of having a better life for my family. Even though we lived a very simple life, we always found ways to make things feel special during the holidays. For our Christmases, we got a 12-inch tree from Sam’s Club and went to the beach and collected shells to make ornaments. We almost forgot we didn’t have any gifts ALMOST, haha, but just the fact that we band together to make a small yet special symbol for the day was enough.
Don’t lose track of what’s really important during this holiday; family is truly all you need ♥︎
