Julie Stewart-Binks Instagram – 🚨Beyond thrilled to get the privilege to broadcast @pwhl_newyork home games alongside @jamiehersch as a color analyst🗽🏒🥹 it is a privilege to be a part of women’s hockey history and one that means so much to me. I’ve been broadcasting the game since I was in university, but I’ve been playing it even longer. While I am still working on adding an Olympic gold medal to my resume, I can tell you: 🏒 played house league hockey at @northtorontohockey where none of the boys would pass me the puck but I once fought a dude which was awesome 🏒 was a sub for two years on my high school hockey team (+ tell everyone I see that @gapps10 was on that team) before making it in Grade 11 as a 4th line right winger 🏒 Broke my collarbone in a tourney where afterwards my coach was quoted saying “we lost a key player. not in the skill department, but in spirit.” 🏒 I was the captain of my university intramural hockey team (we ended up getting kicked out because we used a player from another faculty. I still stand by my decision). 🏒 my friend and teammate @jacquistone once scored and I was so excited for her that I rode my stick… then fell over… and broke my stick (how embarrassing) 🏒 had the chance to play in the @queensuniversity Historic Hockey game in Kingston, ON (a re-enactment of the first game in 1886!) 🏒 played with the Lady Kings in LA with some of the best, most fun women around 🏒 play in the Dodger Stadium Series “media game” alongside Rob Blake and Cuba Gooding Jr. 🏒 chased down HHOF Luc Robitaille with the audacity to chirp him as a “nobody” 🏒 show up to my chelsea piers mens league team to muck things up every so often but give them pep talks in my sleep Ready to bring my passion for the game and my background covering the sport to help elevate these incredible women who deserve everything and more.
