Kelsey Edwards Instagram – As a kid, I remember praying every night that my Aunt Kenra’s cancer would go away. I’m sad to say that her battle ended this past week, and our hearts are broken.

She was so adored by all who knew her, and there was no one better at making you feel like a million bucks than Aunt Kenra. She loved and celebrated others at every turn. You felt love beyond compare in her presence and she was the world’s best cheerleader.

Some of my favorite memories are from my first trip to Europe in 2017. My mom lived with Aunt Kenra and Uncle Randy in Germany in her 20’s, and I’d heard all about it growing up. To spend time with my family in the country I’d heard about my whole life was a dream come true.

I’ll never forget my first (and second) time to Hawaii to visit my Aunt Kenra and my Uncle Randy in their beautiful home. Aunt Kenra had a long list of activities for us to enjoy and helped us plan our trip down to the hour. She took us to her favorite swapmeet near Honolulu, shared her favorite foods and taught us about the island. She had the most beautiful gift basket waiting for us on the bed, a sweet hand-written welcome on the door and a fresh sliced pineapple in the fridge. I’ll never forget those cherished Hawaii moments of cooking with her in the kitchen and sharing stories around the dinner table.

My family spends Christmas Eve with this side of the family, and spending that time with Aunt Kenra was something I always looked forward to. She always lovingly encouraged me to sing for our family’s talent show and even though I still get nervous, when I would look at my Aunt Kenra the nerves would disappear.

Most recently, my Uncle Randy and Aunt Kenra were among some of the very first people to buy tickets to the Utah premiere of Box Boy two months ago. Unfortunately due to her declining health they weren’t able to attend, but we drove up to share the film with them. Even in the thick of her battle with cancer, she still managed to ask me all about it to show her interest and love.

My Aunt Kenra is one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known, inside and out. I miss her and am so grateful for everything she taught me. I love you. Until we meet again 💗 | Posted on 03/Jan/2024 09:01:19
