Actress and comedian Maureen “Mo” Collins has been a longtime advocate for women’s reproductive rights. It’s why, in part, she signed on for the pivotal role of Margo, the compassionate female diner who helps Rachel (@BrittanySnow) out of a tough situation.
In these two short videos, Mo reflects on the significance of her character and underscores the importance of sharing Rachel’s story in today’s societal landscape.
“I was honored when @Nazrin.Choudhury asked me to be a part of such an important project. I’m a bit of an activist out there, so it felt good to put it into something concrete. The issue of abortion care needs all eyes on it. Education is key here. Not everyone understands the scope of what it means, and why it is necessary. Not to mention, none of their fucking business. Our body, our choice. I wanted to get this role right, because I wanted her to connect with all women, and perhaps even more specifically, the white women who still vote against our interests. She [Margo] had to ride a line. Compassion is hopefully what is still relatable, and that is where I wanted to connect.
It was like a family reunion!! Nazrin, Jo and Adam from #FTWD. And I didn’t know until I got to set but my BFF @PeterBreitmayer was there to play the handsy guy at the counter!! Kismet!
Nazrin was a treat to work with, and fits perfectly in my arms for hugs.”
