Monica Malik Instagram – Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) are issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on behalf of the Government of India, providing exposure to gold.
🔵 New Tranche:
Available for subscription from December 18 to December 22, 2023.
🔵 Issue Price:
The issue price is set at Rs 6,199 per gram. The government also offers a discount of Rs 50 per gram less than the nominal value to investors who register online and pay digitally.
🔵 Tenure:
Fixed tenure of 8 years with a 5-year lock-in period.
🔵 Eligibility:
SGBs are restricted for sale to resident individuals, HUFs, Trusts, Universities, and Charitable Institutions.
🔵 Minimum Size:
The minimum permissible investment is One gram of gold.
🔵 Maximum Limit:
4 Kg for individuals, 4 Kg for HUFs, and 20 Kg for trusts and similar entities per fiscal year (April-March). In the case of joint holding, the investment limit of 4 Kg applies to the first applicant.
🔵 Sales Channel:
Bonds will be sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India Ltd (SHCIL), designated post offices, and recognized stock exchanges – the NSE and the BSE.
🔵 Interest Rate:
Investors will be compensated at a fixed rate of 2.50 percent per annum, payable semi-annually on the nominal value.
🔵 Collateral:
SGBs can be used as collateral for loans. The loan-to-value (LTV) ratio will be as applicable to any ordinary gold loan, mandated by the Reserve Bank from time to time.
