Nazanin Boniadi Instagram – After 16 months of unjust imprisonment, heroic journalists #ElahehMohammadi & #NiloofarHamedi who broke the story of #MahsaAmini’s murder in custody that ignited Iran’s #WomanLifeFreedom uprising, have been released on heavy bail while they appeal their lengthy sentences. Notably and courageously, they appear without the compulsory hijab.

Update 1/15/24: A hijab case has been filed against the journalists a day after their release.
Nazanin Boniadi Instagram – I’m honored to join the distinguished board of directors of leading Iran-focused human rights organization Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran, alongside prominent Franco-Iranian executive and new board chair Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson, including: award winning and best selling authors such as journalist and historian Anne Applebaum, political scientist Francis Fukuyama, and writer Azar Nafisi, as well as Bill Shipsey (human rights lawyer and founder of Art for Human Rights), Elizabeth T. Gray, Jr. (poet and translator of classical and modern Persian poetry and corporate advisor), and historians and co-founders Ladan Boroumand and Roya Boroumand (Executive Director). Their principled and decades-long commitment to human rights and democracy is not only inspiring but crucial at this juncture, and I look forward to collaborating with them to that end in 2024 and beyond. Our unity is our strength.
