Oon Shu An Instagram – Saw a kite in the sky the other day, it was very far away but I managed to capture it on photo. Made me think of this poem by Refaat Alareer which I only discovered after he was martyred. The expectation of a premature death at the hands of the occupying forces is so present, so is the courage, and the hope, and strength of the Palestinian spirit, this kind of spirit I’ve never before witnessed in my life. The kite also made me think of how in 2011 Palestinian children in Gaza broke the Guinness Book of World Records by flying 12,350 kites simultaneously. 🪁🪁🪁 i wonder how many of them are still alive. 2024, justice, liberation, peace, dignity for all. 🍉
