Renée Elise Goldsberry Instagram – When I first started doing theater, I used to hide in the dressing room after the show. I didn’t want people to feel obligated to complement me. I desperately dreaded the awkwardness. I know now that our friends don’t come to judge, they come because they love us, and they want to celebrate with us. I run to the after-show embrace now. Not to receive anything, but to GIVE thanks! THANK YOU to everyone who found a way into the #delacortetheater to support us in #TheTempestPW. Your love for me and for my children has me crying while I write this. THANK YOU to EVERYONE who came from far and near… even if I didn’t get to meet you, or if we didn’t get a picture (that includes you @audramcdonald, @thewillswenson, and @misanita79 ), so you’re not in this video, but you CAME… I LOVE YOU! Our company was overjoyed that every single show was sold out, but we know that means many were turned away. If you lost in that beast of a line or in the lottery, WE LOVE YOU TOO! And I will meet you next time… because I’m back. This short and mighty run reminded me who I am. I love every kind of story telling, but I am a theater baby!
