Over the holiday break Maggie started walking independently all around the house. Not 100% ready to let go, but look at how far she has come! 🥹 We are so proud of her strides!
Rewind 4 years ago, Penelope started walking right before her 4th birthday, and it looks like Magnolia is going to do the same. As a mom I still feel her physical delay is due to having two types of dwarfism. Though it hasn’t been medically proven (yet), it’s a mothers intuition. If we find out she’s only achon and not achon pseudo – I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong.

Bottom line, it’s our fault for not locking up the scissors. Cutting his hair to fix the bald spots meant a full buzz. As Gray is autistic, this is always an emotional event. Sweet Penny tried to help her little brother get it done. Hair will grow back, and hopefully one day he’ll enjoy or tolerate a haircut. 🥸

What a way to bring in the New Year. Bourn and I grew up sledding down hills in Charlevoix so this felt like a piece of Michigan… in California. The kids loved it so much we stayed until they kicked us out. 🤣 One day when Magnolia is a little taller we’ll bring her here for sure.

Why does this happen? My ENT basically described it as most people with achondroplasia have different shaped canals making it hard for water and debris to escape once it comes in. Everyone is different and possibly there are achons that have never had to have tubes put in through surgery. You are the lucky few.
If you’re an average height new parent worried about your child having surgery so young, you have a community of lps that can hopefully make you feel comforted.
Last but not least, if you have had multiple surgeries within a year or two, we just discovered “permanent tubes.” Not saying this is for you, just stating to ask your ENT if this is a direction you should go.
