Veronica Valencia Instagram – Hispanic Heritage Month 🤎 Growing up, I didn’t see an Interior Designer portrayed on TV that looked like me. Dark complexion, dark hair… someone with Hispanic roots. I didn’t know how much it affected me until I got older and my career blossomed. The bigger my dreams grew…, the more I felt like an imposter. The stronger my passions grew… the harder I thought I had to work to prove myself, both behind and in front of the camera. To be honest, I still sometimes feel that way.
It wasn’t until recently, while filming my show for @hgtv , the immense amount of pride I felt for my culture and Hispanic roots. Every day while filming, I could not believe it was happening. Seventeen years of being in the design industry, and now today, at 36, I’m so proud I’ve been given the opportunity to honor my family’s heritage through my passion for design and television. ✨
No matter where this journey takes my family and I, my vision has always been the same…. Design a home that is story-driven. A house that radiates the family and their unique background. A home where every detail is personal and has a purpose. A home where culture and family traditions are more important than trends.
All of the heart, diversity, and vibrancy I put into every project I touch, is without a doubt, because of my family and where we come from.
