Elham Modaressi is a Kurdish-Iranian artist suffering from devastating liver failure due to unjust arrest and torture after her participation in peaceful demonstrations in the Mahsa Jina Amini (Woman Life Freedom) uprising. While in regime custody, Elham endured brutal beatings leading to internal bleeding and was also injected with an undisclosed drug causing severe breathing difficulties. She managed to escape Iran and fled to Turkey. Her sister Nahid is a refugee in Turkey.
