Caption : I’m overwhelmed with emotions. Our baby boy woke up on his birthday. I didn’t see him open his eyes, look at me or smile and laugh in two weeks. He’s had such an incredibly rough first year of life spent almost entirely in the hospital. We barely had a taste of a normal family life with him at home that life knocked us right back down. He was not supposed to spend his first birthday (9 months corrected) in a hospital. I will never understand why a child needs to suffer but I will trust that God has a plan and that he has a big one for Cody. This little boy beat all odds and proved that he’s a true life warrior. I will always look at him with admiration. My daughter and I had the idea of decorating his hospital bedroom wall with drawings from everyone who’s been supporting him in prayers and thoughts and we are so incredibly moved by the response. What an unbelievable act of humanity. It brought so much love, life and positivity to his room. It’s the first thing he was when we sat him up. So I thank you, thank you for your messages, your prayers, your videos, your thoughts, your hugs and your visits. They all have and are contributing to his recovery. I know he feels all the love sent his way and he will cherish these forever. They tell his story and will remind him of his battles but most importantly his strength and resilience. Je ne l’ai pas vu ouvrir les yeux, me regarder ou sourire et rire depuis deux semaines. Il a eu une première année de vie incroyablement difficile, passée presque entièrement à l’hôpital. Nous avons à peine eu un avant-goût d’une vie de famille normale avec lui à la maison que la vie nous a renversés. Il n’était pas censé passer son premier anniversaire (9 mois corrigés) à l’hôpital. Je ne comprendrai jamais pourquoi un enfant a besoin de souffrir, mais j’aurai confiance que Dieu a un plan et qu’il en a un grand pour Cody. Caption : This is a different birth story, one that I could’ve never anticipated. One that tested my faith and character. One that ripped me from living a full pregnancy. One that robbed me from a beautiful birth I was so eager to experiance once more. A beautiful birth that he too deserved, a europhic experiance just like I lived with my first child. One that I promised my daughter she would witness because I wanted her to see just how beautiful birth should be. I felt cheated and deprived of all the things a mother should experience when bringing a child into the world. I felt anger, shame, guilt and a profound grief because it was all out of my control and there was no going back. Because I had questions left unanswered, because somehow I felt like I failed him, the last six months have been the hardest months of my existence. I’ve shed more tears than in my entire life. A mighty warrior grew inside of me and he turned me into one too. Born at 28 weeks and weighting a mere 2.1 pounds, our boy has been fighting the big fight and he’s been winning. I feel unbelievably privileged and blessed to be raising two incredibile children who fill my life with inestimable love and joy. After the most challenging 7.5 months of my life after having gone into premature labor unexpectedly, I am here sucking it all in. My son is finally home and I’m here trying to catch up on lost time while slowing it down, healing my heart, soul and body and thanking G/d for giving me the strength to make it through and for being able to hold both my children in my arms. Happy Mother’s Day to my mother for all that she sacrificed for my brothers and I, to all the mothers out there doing their utmost best and to all the mothers that reached out to me to send me words of comfort and support and to the ones that physically showed up for me. Caption : There are things in life that happen that test your faith. Things that put everything into perspective. Things that make you realize there is a much bigger picture that we just can’t see in those moments of suffering. There are things that happen that tear down all your walls and make you surrender because they make you realize that these are the things that make you evolve as a soul on this earth. These are the things that break you down to rebuild you stronger. That you were meant to live these things, that they are part of the journey for you to become who you were meant to be. They give you depth, they give you wisdom, they give you purpose, they connect you to your source and they make you truly human. There are events that happened prior to my son being hospitalized again that really dissapointed and hurt me. In those moments I didn’t understand why they would happen but those events are the ones that saved my son. Those events are the ones that made me be at the right place at the right time for him to be saved. That is no coincidence. That is a pre-written plan. So thank you God, thank you for all of it. Thank you for allowing us to all return home together. Someone told me this felt like a rebirth for my son, especially him waking up on his birthday and I liked the sound of that. It feels like a rebirth for all of us in some form or shape. God is great. Life is great. 🙏💙 Thank you to all the medical professionals that treated, cared and rooted for my son. We will forever be grateful. Thank you to everyone who supported us from close and afar. We are filled with gratitude. 🙏💙 – Il y a des choses dans la vie qui mettent notre foi à l’épreuve. Des choses qui mettent tout en perspective. Des choses qui vous font réaliser qu’il existe une image beaucoup plus grande que nous ne pouvons tout simplement pas voir dans ces moments de souffrance. Caption : First time I was allowed to hold my baby boy I felt an overwhelming rush of love and desire to protect him. I fantasized about wrapping him up and running out of the hospital to bring him home. I fantasized about somehow turning back time and changing the course of events. I felt I had lost all control. I felt my baby was being taken away from me. I felt utterly hopeless. He was in such a rush that he decided to make his big arrival at 28 weeks weighting only 2.1 pounds. I lived such a beautiful pregnancy just like I did with my daughter that I felt like I was floating on a cloud. I’ve been blessed to breeze through it and thus I’ve deeply enjoyed being pregnant with both my children. Although this time around his birth was completely different. Such an unexpected turn of events. Something I never thought would happen and never thought I’d have the strength to get through. But I did. I have fought and conquered all the difficulties, struggles and fears that a #nicuparent has to experiance seeing their little baby fight for their life. The agony of being seperated from your baby for over 7 months. Something I don’t wish for any parent to go through because it is a brutal and lonely journey. But with suffering comes perseverance and endurance and endurance produces character. And somehow G/d answered our prayers and we make it to the other side. When I would be asked if I was expecting a boy or a girl I would often answer ‘a fighter’. Little did I know I would birth a real warrior. The youngest human being I know with the strongest physical and psychological strength. #nicu #nicubabies #nicuparent #preemie #prematureawarness

My daughter turned 6 years old during the summer and every year I like to take photos of her for her birthday but this year life got busier than it usually already is. Caption : All I want for Christmas is my family! The best Christmas ever, to have our boy home, our family united and see our children spent their first Christmas together as siblings. Last year our son was at the hospital on life support after he contracted a bad virus that attacked his premature lungs. He was put on a ventilator and news just seemed to get worse, but… life shows you that miracles do exist and this year, everything was extra special. I managed to pause time and really suck in every instant. So, from our little family to yours, we wish you a warm, joyful, healthy and very Merry Christmas surrounded by the ones you love. 🎄❤ And I have a special thought and prayer in my heart for those parents whose children are in the hospital. Which actor doesn’t love an excuse to get dressed up and in character! I love to be creative and come up with concepts. I always aim for uniqueness.
