D.J. “Shangela” Pierce Instagram – In honor of today’s #BlackHistoryMonth kickoff, I’m posting this video from last year when I was inducted as a Black Future Maker by @att’s Dream in Black initiative. What I say here is true to my experience … besides @rupaulofficial, as a kid I didn’t see or hear in media about Black, gay successful pioneers. Of course, this doesn’t mean they didn’t exist … I now know that so many paved the way without spotlight and I’m grateful to them all. Today, I just hope that through my relentless life journey, both on and off screen, I also have played a role in inspiring other Black and Brown people in my community (including my little ones) to know that if you Dream it, you can Achieve it … just Werq hard, do ur best, believe in your own value and Never Give Up! xo Happy Black History Month!
