Growing up in Kingston, Ontario, Doug Gilmor learned early on that it took hard work and dedication to perfect his craft. These were the pillars he leaned on in becoming a Stanley Cup Champion, Selke Award Winner, and 2x NHL All Star.

“Excellence is a challenge you don’t run away from. You accept the challenge, and how you get through to success in that way is through work. Work ethic is everything. It’s something that you put everything you have into. When that hard work pays off, it’s special.”

Eventually landing in Toronto, the ability to express himself off the ice was something he embraced here, establishing a trademark look that fans instantly took to.

“We all dress different. You should wear whatever you think is going to fit you. This is a big, diverse city – this is the place I could do that.”
