Biochar is a beneficial soil amendment that goes through a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is a process that involves the decomposition of organic materials at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. After pyrolysis, we get a black biomass without oils or combustible materials. We crush it into powder, sieve it carefully, and get a fine, consistent biochar. When added to soil, biochar improves its structure, acts as a sponge for nutrients, creates habitat for beneficial soil organisms, and helps reduce greenhouse gases by stabilizing carbon in the soil.
