Jamie Oliver Instagram – Tackling food waste with @jamieoliver and @jimmysfarm
The King’s Foundation Food for the Future programme aims to raise awareness of food waste amongst young people. One third of all food produced is wasted every year, equating to 9.5 million tonnes of discarded food in the UK alone.
Now in its third year, the programme – delivered in collaboration with @jamieoliver and @jimmysfarm – gives secondary school pupils an insight into food production systems through hands-on workshops and industry visits. The students are then supported to come up with their own practical ideas to reduce food waste at home, and in their schools and communities.
We recently welcomed pupils back to Dumfries House to present their food waste solutions to an esteemed panel of judges including Jimmy and Caela Doherty, Alison Corfield from Jamie Oliver, and representatives from @lantra.scotland , @howtowasteless, The Food and Drink Federation Scotland and @wpj_greenhouses.
