Liev Schreiber Instagram – Yesterday I had the honor of sitting in on a UN Security Council meeting and making the opening remarks. I am incredibly grateful to all of the assembled delegates who are working tirelessly to bring the tens of thousands of Ukrainian children who have been abducted into Russia or Russian held Ukrainian territories back to their families.
I was incredibly moved by the testimony of Sasha (13), Kira (14), and Ilya (11) who were lucky enough to be tracked down and rescued by their incredibly brave grandparents. When Sasha was asked what he would say if he knew the entire world were listening, he simply replied in Ukrainian, “I would like them to please help me find my mother.”
Sasha’s mother has been missing for nearly two years now. While he was testifying Sasha drew this picture and gave it to me on his way out. It’s going up as soon as I get home Sasha! As a co founder of @bluecheckukraine and a chair of @buildersukraine we are doing everything we can to raise awareness about this situation and return as many of these children to their families as possible.
