Parry Glasspool Instagram – Today, I was in the tail end of what I can only describe as an attempted emancipation. I was lured into the playroom with promises of ball pits and merriment. Only to hear the unmistakable sound of the sliding door rapidly closing behind me. I turned to see my daughter’s face creased with laughter. I couldn’t hear what she was saying, but using the lip-reading skills I acquired during my time in Eastern Venezuela, I knew she was mouthing the words; “From no man was I born, to no man shall I serve.”
This wasn’t the first time she’d quoted the lesser known works of Dostoyevsky, and I dont imagine it’ll be the last.
She then proceeded to stare at me, unblinking, for 26 minutes (second slide). It was as if I were an animal, trapped in a zoo. Being observed, studied. For what I do not know, nor do I wish to find out. Unnerving is not the word.
