Carl was the first director I worked with in the US and my first director on The Mandalorian. I grew up watching and admiring his work and couldn’t believe I’d be working with this Hollywood Icon. I love telling the story of when I first met him and how I was able to earn his respect and I like to think, friendship. It was always such a treat to see Carl and listen to his stories and talk about story telling. He was passionate about directing, generous, kind, and had enough charisma to light up a large city.
I feel blessed and fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend time with him and I’ll cherish every moment I got to be with this legend. Deepest condolences to his family on this terrible loss. The way he spoke of his family it was obvious he loved them and was so very proud.
I’ll miss doing conventions with him, working with him, and just hanging out with him. I’ll celebrate his life by continuing to share the stories of what an amazing human being he was. One regret is I’ll never get to buy him dinner (next time was supposed to be my turn!).
