Todrick Hall Instagram – I am not a reality tv fan, but my best friend Sheena begged me to watch a show called “Dance Moms” with her and so I caved. I immediately fell in love with the show, honestly because it reminded me so much of my childhood and growing up in a dance school and the stakes just couldn’t have been higher from week to week! I had danced on a cruise ship with a girl named Jennine who always told me about her crazy dance teacher, and as luck would have it years later I realized that her teacher was THE Abby Lee Miller! So, one day I reached out and said I had an idea for a song and Jennine organized it all and made it happen. I have never been more starstruck by a group of LITERAL CHILDREN, but I was such a fan of them when I walked in to meet them. They were all so sweet and I immediately fell in love with them all. I was devastated that Chloe wasn’t allowed to participate because I adore her, but that’s a story for a different day lol. The parents all pitched in getting the costumes together and we had a blast shooting the video. To this day, it’s still one of my favorite songs ever and I am so grateful that I got to work with these budding superstars right at the beginning. This video lead to a long relationship with the show’s cast…I got to be a guest star on the show multiple times and lately some of those videos have been going viral. What an era this was, they don’t make reality tv like this anymore, but while problematic and I’m grateful to have been a part of the Dance Moms phenomenon.
