Aimee La Joie Instagram – SAG-AFTRA Member since: 2024 This has been 10 years in the making. I’d gone so long without being even close to eligibility that I started to think maybe it wasn’t supposed to happen. I thought it would be fun to join in person. So my dad, my sister and I decided to make a day of it. We drove to LA from San Diego. I walked into the lobby and said, “hi, I’m SAG-eligible and I would like to join today.” The friendly ex-cop security card directed me to a phone and gave me a number to dial. After being on hold for 10 minutes I was told that SAG-AFTRA is not currently doing in person sign ups and I should go to their website. So we sat outside on the property and I completed my application on my phone. Just another fun story of this journey! A thousand thank you’s to @christiewillwolf for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to finally achieve this goal. A million thank you’s to my parents, who have always been incredibly supportive of me and never know what or who I will be dressed as at home. My dad has told me for years that when I become eligible he will pay for it. That privilege that I have is not taken for granted. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years. It’s what keeps me going. And lastly I’d like to thank myself for finally getting the courage to make my own content and get myself out there. I want to thank myself for not giving up. While joining doesn’t automatically mean that I’ve “made it,” I’m so excited to see what potential opportunities this will bring.
